Butterflies and scallops

The Spring and Summer seasonal catalogue also comes to an end this month so if you still have things on your wish list then now is the time to order them.  
One product that was introduced in this catalogue and will continue in the new annual catalogue is the Simply Scored Borders Plate.  The designs coordinate with many of the die cut shapes and stamps.
On this card there is an embossed border along the bottom, a scalloped edge which echoes the scallop circle sitting behind the central butterfly.

Dress Up and Score!

The All Dressed up framelits are proving very popular at the moment.  They are great for cutting card or fabric so you can put a real fabric dress on your tailors dummy! The designer paper border has a lovely scalloped edge which has been echoed with matching scorelines, although you can't see them very well in this photo.

Beth's Birthday Book

While I was in Wales a couple of weeks back visiting my daughter at uni she asked me if I could make something for her friends birthday, fortunately I rarely travel to Wales without card and stamps!  We bought an A5 notebook, I covered it with DSP and stamped the flowers from Blooming with Kindness.  The Lovely Letters were stamped, cut out and layered onto white and blue card which I had background stamped with the Confetti stamps and daubed the edge to soften it. The sentiment is from the Feel Goods stamp set.

 

Of course she then needed a birthday card too so I made this coordinating card, scoring the edges of the panels and completing with ruffled ribbon.  
I hope she liked it.

Papillon Potpourri

Here's a card that we made at Make, Do and Send card club recently.  The base card is Wisteria Wonder and the butterflies are stamped in Wisteria, Pool Party and Lucky Limeade.  I'm so glad that Stampin Up will be retaining most of the current In-Colours although we will lose Lucky limeade at the end of June.
I also stamped the butterflies a second time and punched them out with the matching punch so that I could 3d mount them.  Some simple scoring and a little bling finish it off.

Gift bag with cards

This was a project that we made at Make. Do and Send card club recently.  The original idea came from Amanda Fowler, you can see her blog here. 
The little gift bag is made from just one piece of card which is scored using the fabulous Simply Scored board and then folded, it is held closed by ribbon. The bag is the perfect size to hold four 3x3 inch cards with their envelopes. I kept the decoration of my cards to a simple colour combination of Pool Party, Island Indigo and Calypso Coral, I shall be sorry to see these colours retire at the end of the current catalogue in June, do you think we can persuade stampin Up to keep them?

Christmas Card

Now this is clever! This card and it's matching envelope are made from one  12x12 piece of card and designer series paper and the Simply Scored board. The really clever part however is the closure.  

The card stays closed because of the heart shapes that are attached to each corner. They overlap where they meet in the centre. 

SO clever! and much easier to make than it looks. The inside and outside of the card has been decorated with Holly Berry dsp.

Christmas Gift Box

I love this box!  The lovely Amanda Fowler showed us how at our recent team training day at the end of July.
The box itself is made from just one piece of A4 card stock and created easily using the Simply Scored. The lid is made from a scallop square cut using the Big Shot.  
The completed box stands around 6 inches high and will be perfect at Christmas time, I can see that I will be making a lot of these.

Handbag Portfolio

Isn't this great? A handbag made from Speciality Designer Paper that holds 4 regular A6 cards inside it!  Amanda Fowler showed us how to make these at our quarterly training event in May. 

The bag is made from just one sheet of 12x12 paper which is scored and folded.  The closure is made by adding another small piece of card. I stamped mine with the confetti stamp set and the handbag strap is a piece of Lucky limeade ruffled ribbon. 

I'll show you the cards in more detail over the next few days.

Scoring for decoration

Your Simply scoring board is not just for creating boxes and envelopes, here I have used it just to add some decoration to my card. You can't see it very well in the photograph I will have to try and get a close up but I have scored 3 parallel lines both above and below the flowers. The flowers are from the Boho blossoms punch and have rhinestones in the centre. Rich Razzleberry has always been a favourite of mine and I love this combination of razzleberry, Melon Mambo and chocolate chip. 

Waterfall card

The beauty of the Simply Scoring Board is that you can make an envelope to match your card in any paper you like and to whichever size you require.  Amanda showed us how with this design.  The card is a waterfall design with the edge randomised by the stamping and some ribbon to hold it closed for sending. 

The envelope is made to measure in colour coordinating designer paper.

A Simply Scored gift packet

Today I have another Simply Scored project, I learned this one at Amanda's class last month and it could be just the ticket for present a small gift by adding a cellophane bag to the inside. It really is incredibly simple to make but looks oh so pretty, A strip of card decorated by stamping, scored in just the right places and folded. Another piece of coordinating card to make a cover, holes punched right through, including a cellophane bag if required and some ribbon threaded through to hold it all in place.  The gift tag and the stamps are from Mixed bunch and punched with the matching punch.

Box - Simply Scored

I am so glad that Stampin Up have now brought us the Simply Scoring Board, it makes creating little boxes so easy. A few simple score lines and we were ready to fold this box from card and the lid from coordinating designer paper. Some satin ribbon to tie it up nicely and it's all ready for your gift. Simples!


I am off shortly for an exciting afternoon.  One of my daughter's birthday presents was an Aquazorbing experience, she and her brother are goign to roll downhill inside a huge plastic ball but just in case that wasn't enough they throw some water inside as well! Fortunately I only have to watch and take photographs, I'll share some with you soon.

Rosettes Simply Scored

Woohoo! We now have the Simply Scored Tool to use and it's just brilliant! There are just loads of different ways to use the board and you can add a diagonal scoring plate or a metric plate if you find that easier to use.
This is my first attempt at a rosette, they are so much easier to make than you think.  This one was made from designer paper and scored every quarter inch. Then the strip of paper was concertina'd and the ends joined together to complete the ring.  A circle punched from coordinating paper finishes off the centre.
